1933 was a rather significant year in Looney Tunes history, seeing the departure of Hugh Harman and Rudolf Ising who took Bosko and Honey with them; and the beginning of a new Looney Tunes series replacing them starring the human Buddy.
History[]
- Hugh Harman and Rudolf Ising end their ties with Leon Schlesinger. They stop producing Looney Tunes and Merrie Melodies and take Bosko with them. Their final Warner Bros. cartoons are released this year, being "Bosko's Picture Show" and "We're in the Money". Bosko would later appear in MGM's Happy Harmonies cartoons.
- Leon Schlesinger sets up his own animation studio continuing LT and MM. To replace Bosko, Buddy is created. Tom Palmer directs his only two cartoons, "Buddy's Day Out" and "I've Got to Sing a Torch Song", although due to both being deemed of poor quality, he was quickly fired and replaced by Friz Freleng, who reworked Palmer's original cartoons. The former was the first to be produced by Schlesinger.
- Animators Jack King, Frank Tashlin, and Chuck Jones, alongside director Earl Duvall join the Schlesinger animation studio.
