1962 marks one of the final years for the original cartoon studio. With musician Milt Franklyn passing away early in the year, Warner Bros. hired William Lava as his replacement while downsizing the orchestra due to budget concerns. Most of the directors would also leave the studio in this year.
History[]
- William Lava succeeds Milt Franklyn starting with "The Jet Cage" and "Good Noose". However, even after Franklyn's death, his arrangements of the Looney Tunes and Merrie Melodies opening themes were used until 1964.
- Chuck Jones is fired on July 23, 1962[1] for moonlighting on UPA's film Gay Purr-ee and is replaced by Phil Monroe.
- Friz Freleng leaves for Hanna-Barbera in November 1962[1] and is replaced by Gerry Chiniquy.
