Plot[]
At the Acmetropolis Subterranean prison, a prison train is transferring four of the prison's dangerous criminals to a new highly secure prison. They include Drake Sypher, Mallory Mastermind, Paula 'Weathervane' Hayes, and Massive. En route, the prisoners are greeted by Danger Duck who taunts them that they're not going to escape this time. Suddenly a mysterious wormhole opens up and teleports the inmates off the plant to a barren planetoid in the middle of the asteroid belt. When Massive wonders how did they get here, an alien named Optimatus says that he broke them out. He offers that if they help him, they'll be free to take over the city. Privately, Mastermind, Weathervane, and Massive discuss what to do, while they owe Optimatus for breaking them out, they're also wary that he may have his own objectives. They soon discover that Drake attempting to swipe the other three's abilities for a solo job until Weathervane stops him. Agreeing to ally with him, Optimatus gives them a special chip to put in the Loonatics' HQ for secret purposes.
Back at HQ, Danger Duck laments about letting the prisoners escape, while Zadavia who was listening about what happened to the four believes the culprit must be someone she knew. She instantly leaves but not before telling the group to find the villains. With a handful of weapons, Duck sets out to find the villains himself while Ace believes this is only to get on Zadavia's good side. He eventually lets Duck go to find them, on the condition that he takes Rev with him which Duck accepts as a sidekick. After the two leave, Ace, Lexi, Tech and Slam eventually find Sypher at the Acmetropolis Zoo where he has stolen a couple of the animals' natural abilities and head there to capture him. Upon arriving at the zoo, the four attempt to battle Sypher only for the other three villains to ambush them and easily overpower them knocking all of them out.
Not long after, Ace, Lexi, Tech and Slam awake to find themselves in a prison cell in the Acemtropolis Subterranean Prison, more specifically the cell that Tech designed to hold Mastermind. Nearby Mastermind with the other villains taunts them saying that she got out of the cell but they won't and Ace's attempt to break the glass of the cell with his laser vision fails as the blast bounces around and burns Ace's ears. Mastermind tells them that glass is designed to withstand their powers and only the codes she knows is the key to let them out. Sypher offers to take the Loonatics powers so the four are not a threat anymore, however Mastermind refuses, believing he'll likely backstab the group once he gets them with Weathervane and Massive also being distrustful of Sypher. The three then leave Sypher to guard the four while they track down Danger Duck and Rev warning him not to touch anything.
While Danger Duck and Rev are observing the prison train, wondering how the villains escaped, Mastermind, Weathervane, and Massive manage to get into the Loonatics' HQ thanks to Mastermind imitating one of the Loonatics' faces to get past the facial scan. Once inside the group uses the chip Optimatus gave them and gain access to the network and cripple the system. Later when Danger Duck and Rev return to the HQ, they find many of the screens on the fritz. Just then Zadavia manages to get through warning Duck and Rev to escape before they are attacked by the villains. Luckily the two manage to escape the HQ and lose them in one of the city's alleys. Zadavia barely manages to contact them to find the rest of the team while she tries to find out who hacked the system. Remembering their last encounter with Mastermind, Rev reasons that the other four are likely kept in the Subterranean Prison and races there with Duck following.
Meanwhile in the prison, Ace and Tech are looking through the wiring of the cell to crack the code, though Sypher sees through the ruse adding that he'll have their powers at the moment if he himself knew what the code was.
