There are two categories for voice actors:
- Category:Voice-actors (for male actors)
- Category:Voice-actresses (for female actors)
However, having these categories doesn't feel right to me. For one, I feel it's defining the people by their gender, something I'd like to discourage, especially in regards to real people. I've already disallowed the use of gender and species categories on real people articles because those categories are intended for characters and not real people.
EDIT 4:27 PM PDT: I'd also like to mention that dictionaries do not consider the word "actor" to apply to any specific gender(s). See these:
- Merriam-Webster
- Cambridge
- Wikipedia mentions that the re-adoption of gender-neutral "actor" dates to the 1950s-1960s.
Here are the options:
- Support - will merge the categories together
- Oppose - will keep them as-is
Please be sure to provide a reason with your vote or it won't count. The voting period will last until September 2.
As for me, I
Support - per proposal.
