Bosko Shipwrecked! is a 1931 Looney Tunes short directed by Hugh Harman.
Plot[]
Because of an awful storm, Bosko gets shipwrecked on an island. He wakes up to find that two monkeys are fighting over his hat. They upset a nest, causing an egg to splatter on Bosko's face. A parrot responds with, "Yolks on you!" and repeats it many times. The parrot laughs so hard that he falls off his branch and into a hollow tree trunk, which strips off his feathers as he squeezes through it.
Bosko laughs at the parrot, but then a lion begins chasing him. When they come to a lagoon, Bosko hops across rocks, but the last rock is an alligator. It opens its mouth, flipping Bosko into the air as the charging lion runs down its throat. Bosko runs away from them and right into a cannibal village. Bosko runs from them, finally escaping on a rhino.
Censorship[]
- The version aired in Looney Tunes on Nickelodeon deletes the entire sequence where Bosko ends up in a cannibal village and gets chased by them.
Notes[]
- This is the first Looney Tunes short to only be directed by Hugh Harman, as well as the first short of the series to not be directed by Rudolf Ising.
- This cartoon entered the public domain in 1959 as Sunset Productions neglected to renew the copyright.
