Public domain films

This is a list of Looney Tunes and Merrie Melodies animated shorts that have fallen into the public domain due to copyright neglect.

As a result of this, these cartoons are as well free to distribute on VHS, DVD, and websites such as YouTube. Some people have attempted to sell these videos and don't have to pay Warner Bros. as a result of these public domain cartoons due to United Artists and its successor companies or Warner Bros. having no interest in renewing the copyrights to the cartoons.

Many Leon Schlesinger cartoons have fallen into the public domain. All post-1943 shorts are under copyright, while all cartoons produced in 1930 and 1931 are in the public domain.

Meanwhile Fin 'N Catty, The Unruly Hare, Crowing Pains, The Goofy Gophers, and The Rattled Rooster are long believed to have entered the public domain, but in fact these cartoons are actually still under copyright.
