A helicopter beany-capped, wise-cracking crow invades a corn field owned by an elderly farmer. He starts by mocking the scarecrow before stealing and eating multiple ears of corn. The farmer then unsuccessfully attempts to kill the crow by using a gun, an axe, a dynamite stick, and a cannon. In the process of trying to kill the crow, his car is destroyed, he is tricked into going into his fridge, his piano is destoryed, his shed is blown up, he is blown into the middle of the lake where the cannon ball capsizes the boat.

Caricatures[]

  • Pat Patrick - the crow's voice is based on his character, Ercil Twing, from The Chase and Sanborn Hour.

Censorship[]

  • The entire part where the crow argues with the farmer over whether or not the little light in the fridge stays on when one closes the door and then the farmer is tricked into getting inside the fridge and panics over being trapped was cut when aired on Nickelodeon and The WB (most likely because the censors for both channels feared that this would be imitated by impressionable viewers).[3][4][dead link]

Notes[]

  • The working title was "Shmoe Crow".
  • This is the final Warner Bros. short where Bill Melendez worked as an animator before he moved to UPA.
