Dan Backslide is a Looney Tunes character created by Chuck Jones. He was voiced by Mel Blanc.

Dan Backslide is a villain who appears in "The Dover Boys". Known as a "coward, bully, cad and thief" and possessing a pale, sickly green complexion, he despises Tom, Dick and Larry (a.k.a. the Dover boys), and kidnaps the boys' wealthy fiancee "Dainty" Dora Stanpipe only for her father's money. Once when Dan successfully kidnaps Dora, comically Dan gets all the thrashing from Dora, who cries for help from Tom, Dick and Larry to save her. By the time Tom, Dick and Larry arrive at where Dan is, he already appears to be half-beaten by Dora. After Tom lays a further thrashing on Dan, the three Dover boys were about to clobber him one last time, but end up inadvertently knocking each other out moments after the villain slumps to the floor from his previous beatings.

  • His appearance was modeled after animator Ken Harris.
  • A short clip of Dan Backslide appears on one of the TV monitors in a bar in the pilot for Vivziepop's Hazbin Hotel.
  • Due to his hammy nature, Dan Backslide has become a popular source of Internet memes.
