Easter Rabbit (or Easter Bunny) is a character from Looney Tunes series. His only classic appearance was in "Easter Yeggs". He is a lazy rabbit who works at Easter time.
History[]
Bugs Bunny finds the Easter Bunny (also called the "Easter Rabbit") sitting on a rock, crying. The Easter Bunny tells Bugs that his feet are sore, so he cannot deliver the Easter eggs. Bugs takes up the job, not knowing that he, like other rabbits, was actually tricked into doing so yearly. "Every year, I gets some "dumb bunny" to do my work for me."
After having a harrowingly dangerous experience with the Dead End Kid, Bugs attempts to quit, but the Easter Rabbit pressures him to continue or else he'd give the Easter Rabbit a bad name.
Bugs becomes aware of the Easter Bunny's trickery, and so plants a bomb painted like an Easter egg and leaves it for the Easter Bunny. When he picks it up to finish his job, Bugs lights the fuse, which blows up the bomb, leaving the hapless Easter Bunny hanging high up in a tree.
Origins[]
The Easter Bunny's personality is based on Mel Blanc's radio character "Happy Postman", including the ironic catchphrase "Keep Smiling!"
Appearances[]
The classic short:
- "Easter Yeggs" (first appearance) (1947)
Quotes[]
- "You can't quit now. You'll give the Easter Rabbit a bad name!"
Notes[]
- He can be considered as an overarching main antagonist of his debut cartoon "Easter Yeggs", as he was the one who caused Bugs to endure harrowingly dangerous experiences from both Dead End Kid and Elmer Fudd while taking his role as the Easter Rabbit, not to mention that Bugs almost got shot from gunfire in both instances, all because of him tricking "dumb bunnies" like Bugs to do his work for him.
