Edward Asner (born 15 November 1929 - died 29 August 2021) was an American actor and former president of the Screen Actors Guild, best known for his role as Lou Grant in both The Mary Tyler Moore Show and its spin-off series Lou Grant. His other roles include Carl Fredrickson in Up, Mr. Carson in Home Alone: The Holiday Heist, and Sid Weinberg in the TV show Cobra Kai.
