Fighting Tools is a 1943 Private Snafu cartoon directed by Bob Clampett.
Plot
A newspaper spins into view with the headline "Battle reports prove U.S. soldier best armed in the world!" Another headline reads "Our fighting tools unbeatable if given the proper care." Various photos of army equipment are shown before cutting to Snafu reading a newspaper in his tent. He sings about how great the weapons are and how he will be a war hero. Meanwhile, a Nazi soldier is sneaking up on Snafu. When Snafu notices, he pulls his gun out of the mud and tells the Nazi to "stick 'em up, or I'll blow your brains out!" The Nazi is frightened until he notices that the gun is filled with mud. Snafu tries to shoot, but all that comes out of the gun is mud. He hits the Nazi with the gun and runs off. The Nazi is then cornered by Snafu's machine gun. Snafu rapidly fires at the Nazi, but the gun soon melts. The Nazi tells Snafu that it was not plugged into a water source, causing it to overheat. He then tells Snafu that over in Germany, they give their weapons great care, pulling out a knife over Snafu's nose as an example. Snafu becomes frightened and makes a run for it. The Nazi chases Snafu until he stops at a cannon. The Nazi feels that he is cornered until a mouse and a family of ducks tell him that he is safe because "the conditions inside are just stinking." The Nazi blows into the front of the cannon, causing a lot of dishes to fly out of the rear. Snafu runs towards his car, but it does not move from its spot. The Nazi calls him a "dumkopfth" because he let the battery on his car run down. The Nazi throws a bomb at Snafu, causing his car to blow up. The last scene shows Snafu in a German prison wearing no clothes, where the Nazi soldier calls him the "world's greatest...zero."

Notes
- This is the first Private Snafu cartoon to be directed by Bob Clampett.
- One of the headlines on the paper, "Adolph Hitler Commits Suicide," was also used in another Clampett cartoon, Tortoise Wins by a Hare. Coincidentally, the real Adolf Hitler would commit suicide in April 1945.
