Michael Sasanoff (15 December 1903 – 20 December 1984)[1] was an American animator and writer.
Biography[]
Sasanoff was born in Odessa, Russia on 15 December 1903 to Max Sasanoff who was an artist and singer. He moved to the United States in 1913 and attended the National Academy of Design and the Art Students League in New York.[1] Sasanoff served in Bob Clampett's unit as a background artist after John Didrik Johnsen left for MGM in 1941. He along with Lou Lilly served as Clampett's writers on several of his cartoons due to his main writer Warren Foster working for Frank Tashlin. He wrote three cartoons those being "What's Cookin' Doc?", "The Old Grey Hare", and "The Bashful Buzzard". After he left Warner Brothers, he moved into the advertising business and opened his own firm after moving to various agencies in the 1950s to the 1960s.[2]
Death[]
Sasanoff died in Wilton, Connecticut, at the age of 81. He was survived by his wife Harriette, his two children Robert and Katharine, his two stepsons Michael and David, his sister Jeanette, and three grandchildren.[3]
