Jester is a cartoon character created by animator Friz Freleng.

Unlike any of the other characters, the Jester character never appeared in the earliest Looney Tunes or Merrie Melodies cartoons; he only appeared in the closing title card of every color Merrie Melodies short between 1934-1935, starting from "Those Beautiful Dames" until "Billboard Frolics".

In each closing title card, he says the signoff quote "That's all, Folks!". Prior to that, the earliest color Merrie Melodies had varying characters saying the earlier signoff quote "So long, Folks!".

He first appeared in the closing title card of "Those Beautiful Dames", where he looked slightly different from his more common design. He was then redesigned for "Pop Goes Your Heart". Jester originally had a dopey, low-pitched voice, but starting from "Country Boy" until "Billboard Frolics", he has a high-pitched falsetto.

Jester normally wears red, green, and white in his signature outfit. This could be partially attributed to the very limited color palettes used in the 1934-1935 two-strip Technicolor Merrie Melodies cartoons which was only able to use red, green, white and brown hues.
