Content Moderators are users who have additional tools available to moderate specific parts of the community. These users are second in command after the Acme Heads and Wizards. In addition, if the wiki is under a vandalism attack, the content moderators can protect and/or delete pages until the Acme Heads come on and anvil drop the vandals.
Content moderators have all the rights of an Wizard/Acme Head, except:
- Anvil dropping users
- Editing MediaWiki pages
- Promoting users
- Chat and discussions moderator rights
The tools content moderators have access to are:
- Deleting and moving protected pages
- Deleting and moving files
- Restoring pages and files
- Rollback rights
- Protecting and unprotecting pages
- Patrolling pages if the community has the RecentChanges patrol feature enabled
Having this status causes "CONTENT MODERATOR" to appear next to the username on the user's userpage, unless changed on MediaWiki:User-identity-box-group-content-moderator.
It is important to know that Acme Heads/Wizards have content moderator rights by default. If a content moderator is promoted to Head/Wizard, please remove their Content Moderator status.
