Wilson D. "Pete" Burness (16 June 1904 - 21 July 1969) was an American animator and animation director. He briefly worked on the Looney Tunes and Merrie Melodies series, but was best known for his earlier works as an animator at the Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer studio and his role as a director for the UPA studio, where he directed two Oscar-winning Mr. Magoo shorts, When Magoo Flew and Magoo's Puddle Jumper. After this, he spent the rest of his career at Jay Ward Productions, working on Rocky and Bullwinkle and several others. He became severely ill in 1969 and passed away on July 21st of that year.
