Porky's Prize Pony is a 1941 Looney Tunes short directed by Chuck Jones.
Plot[]
Porky the jockey is getting his prize entry ready for the big steeplechase, but an overambitious and ever-confident, somewhat bumbling nag, who needs an owner, is determined to convince Porky to ride him in the race. Censorship[]
- The beginning of the scene where the horses are called to the starting line and Porky runs to get his horse (who is passed out drunk from drinking liniment-tainted water) is edited because one of the foreground characters is a stereotypically black stable hand leading a horse to the starting line on Nickelodeon, Cartoon Network, Boomerang, MeTV, and its spin-off channels MeTV+ and MeTV Toons.[1]
Notes[]
- Rich Hogan's name is misspelled as "Rich Mogan" in the redrawn colorized version.
- This cartoon entered the public domain in 1969 since Warner Bros.-Seven Arts did not renew the copyright.[2]
- MeTV+ aired a previously unreleased restored print of the cartoon on Sunday Night Cartoons; however, this restoration has an incorrect opening cue.
