Porky's Road Race is a 1937 Looney Tunes short directed by Frank Tashlin.

At race day, Porky finds himself up against famous stars such as Laurel and Hardy, and Charlie Chaplin. Porky also finds himself having to beat Black 13, driven by Borax Karoff, and hope to make it to the finish line.

The scene in the uncut computer-colorized version

  • When this cartoon aired on Nickelodeon (both as a redrawn colorized version and a computer colorized version), the scene at the beginning of the race where all the drivers speed off was cut to remove the part where a vehicle driven by Stepin Fetchit (a black character actor known for playing shiftless, lazy black men) trails behind them.[1]
    • Cartoon Network also edited the same scene Nickelodeon did, but only in their computer-colorized version (which is also the version that airs on Boomerang). However, some airings of the computer-colorized version on Cartoon Network were uncut, as well as the original black and white version shown on Late Night Black and White.

  • On W7 prints of the redrawn colorized version of this cartoon, the cartoon opens with the W7 logo with its 1967-1969 fanfare playing, and the W7 closing titles play the 1955-1964 Looney Tunes theme instead of the original ending theme to the cartoon. Pre-W7 and 1972 prints however, use the correct theme.
  • The redrawn colorized version used the incorrect 1937-1938 font lettering instead of the correct 1936-1937 font lettering.
