Porky's Romance is a 1937 Looney Tunes short directed by Frank Tashlin.
Plot[]
Porky asks Petunia to marry him. Petunia says no, so Porky decides to hang himself. The beam holding the rope collapses as Porky jumps, and instead of killing himself, he is knocked unconscious and has a dream about what life would be like if he and Petunia got married. It starts out fine, but soon turns into a nightmare. Porky is forced to do the housework and care for their many children while Petunia sits around, doing nothing but eating chocolate, gaining weight, spoiling her pet dog, yelling at Porky for not keeping up with the housework, and clobbering him with a rolling pin if he talks back. Porky wakes up to Petunia, who says she will marry him. After envisioning his awful wedded life with Petunia, Porky runs away, but not before giving Petunia's snooty dog a well-deserved kick in the butt.

Censorship[]
- On The WB network, the end scene where Porky runs off and then returns to kick Petunia's dog as the cartoon irises out was cut.[3]
Notes[]
- This is the first appearance of Petunia Pig. She was intended to be a recurring character, as the staff were trying to find a new character to star with Porky Pig. Petunia was unsuccessful, along with many other characters, and only starred in a handful of shorts and a couple of books. A second star would not be found until "Porky's Duck Hunt", Daffy Duck's first cartoon.
- This was the last short featuring Joe Dougherty as the voice of Porky Pig. He was replaced by Mel Blanc, starting with "Porky's Duck Hunt".
- The Warner Bros.-Seven Arts print of the redrawn colorized version of this cartoon is a rare instance of the full opening theme (in this case, the "Porky Signature" theme) being played from start to finish on such a print (rather than starting halfway or a third of the way into the theme music, as is the case on the Sunset Productions prints). To accommodate this, the theme music begins on a black background, and then four seconds into the theme, the "Abstract W7" opening sequence begins. The "rotating line" animation before the Looney Tunes screen is played twice, again to accommodate the longer theme music.
- Petunia's yell about the "don't get excited" commentary was reused with a higher pitch in "Porky and Gabby".
