Porky and Daffy in the William Tell Overture is a 1991 Merrie Melodies short directed by Daniel Haskett.
Plot[]
Daffy and Porky appear on stage together at the music hall to perform Rossini's "The William Tell Overture". As Daffy prepares to blow his trumpet, Porky interrupts and starts the opera himself. As Porky is given plenty of roses thrown at him, an enraged Daffy tries to boot Porky off the stage. The overture consists of Daffy's many attempts to get rid of Porky, such as shooting a plunger bow at Porky and attempting to tie Porky to a railroad. All of the attempts fail, and Porky comes back unharmed the instant Daffy tries to eliminate him.
Just as the two bow at the end of the overture, the Lone Ranger comes in the back and gets the spotlight. Porky doesn't know who the horseback rider is, but the crowd is still cheering for him. Daffy eventually leaves during the final bows with Porky and the Lone Ranger, but at the end pops up only to receive no applause, much to his dismay.

Notes[]
- It was first released as part of the 1991 television special Bugs Bunny's Overtures to Disaster, and never received an official theatrical release. Unlike several made-for-television shorts, it was also not packaged for any television release outside of the special (likely due to its short length), and thus has seldom aired on television as a result.
- It was later released as a standalone short on the Looney Tunes Golden Collection: Volume 4 DVD in 2006. The ending scene with the final bows (after Porky questions the Lone Ranger's appearance) was newly animated for this release.
- This cartoon opens with the Warner Bros. logo along with Porky and Daffy's faces while the 1939 variant of "Merrily We Roll Along" plays. However, it does not switch to the Merrie Melodies title and instead plays the credits for the short while the theme is still playing before the title is revealed. At the end, the "That's all Folks!" ending screen falls on Daffy without any music playing.
