Sam Wolfe (born Samuel Glaser)[1] was an American actor.
Career[]
Wolfe was part of a group of stooges for Ted Healy, before his former co-stars took their act solo in a series of two-reel comedies for Columbia Pictures. Wolfe was hired by Bob Clampett to voice the Russian dog from the Bugs Bunny cartoon "Hare Ribbin'" after Clampett saw a performance of him in a nightclub owned by former boxer Maxie Rosenbloom. He recorded his dialogue on 4 September 1943. and he was paid one hundred dollars for his performance which was a higher sum than Mel Blanc's usual sixty-five-dollar fee.[2] Wolfe also provided voices for the Porky Pig cartoon "Swooner Crooner" where he voiced four roosters that were caricatures of Nelson Eddy, Al Jolson, Jimmy Durante, and Cab Calloway.[3]
