Snow Excuse is a 1966 Merrie Melodies short directed by Robert McKimson.
Title[]
The title is a pun on "no excuse."
Plot[]
In his cabin atop Mt. Popocateptl, Speedy is freezing. He sees smoke coming from the chimney of Daffy's cabin below, so he runs down and asks if he can borrow some firewood. Daffy refuses, then chases the beggar away with a shotgun. Speedy comes back and steals a log, then purposely trips the duck. He returns repeatedly to steal more, even taking a log from the wall of Daffy's cabin. Daffy sets multiple mousetraps and bats Speedy with chocolate-covered ice logs, but Speedy dodges the traps and steals more real wood. The mouse then gives him a "gift" of a lit stick of dynamite and helps himself to the rest of Daffy's wood. With no more wood to steal, Speedy decides to play and builds a snowman. As Daffy climbs up the mountain to retaliate, Speedy accidentally knocks over the snowman. The snowball gains mass as it rolls downhill and smashes Daffy's cabin to pieces.
As Speedy relaxes in front of a warm fire in his own cabin, a knock comes on the door. Daffy, wearing a mouse costume, asks if he can stay for the night. Speedy agrees, then Daffy says, "I always say, if you can't beat 'em, join 'em."
