Target Snafu is a 1944 Private Snafu short directed by Frank Tashlin.
Plot[]
Private Snafu fails to protect himself adequately against the onslaught of an armada of malaria-laden mosquitoes.
Notes[]
- Friz Freleng is often mis-credited as the director of this short. However, judging by its animation style and cinematography, it is more likely to have been directed by Frank Tashlin instead.
- Much of its animation was recycled in "Of Thee I Sting" (1946), which was directed by Freleng. Robert C. Bruce, whose voice is in this short, would return to play the role as the narrator, while much of the music cues would also be reused.
- While not directly referenced, the mosquitoes army represent some Axis ideologies, due to a group of them performing a Nazi salute after obtaining the final piece of a map.

Closer examination reveals that this is actually a Frank Tashlin directed short and has what would be his unit animators at the time: Cal Dalton, Richard Bickenbach, Izzy Ellis and Art Davis."
