The Chocolate Chase is a 1980 Looney Tunes short directed by Art Davis, Dave Detiege, Gerry Chiniquy, and Tony Benedict.
Plot[]
Daffy Duck is hired by the pig owner of a chocolate bunny factory to guard the factory from Mexican mice. The mayor of the mouse village tries to offer Daffy money, but he steals the money and does not give any chocolate to the mice. Desperately hungry, the mice decide to call Speedy Gonzales, the fastest mouse in all of Mexico.
Daffy's attempts to stop Speedy in the factory, utilizing a net, a motorcycle, and chasing him on foot are in vain. Speedy succeeds in every way he tries to bring chocolate bunnies to the mice, ramming Daffy into a wall every time. Eventually, Daffy slides down a chute after missing Speedy in the factory. He is flattened and mixed into the chocolate and is spewed out as a chocolate duck. Speedy and the mice take home all of the chocolate bunnies, including the chocolate-covered Daffy. As the mice laugh at Daffy, Daffy shakes his head out of the chocolate shell and decides to join the Easter fiesta.

Notes[]
- This cartoon is part of Daffy Duck's Easter Show; it was later shown on television as a standalone short.
- This short is very similar to "Speedy Gonzales", where Sylvester keeps away the mice from getting the cheese at the AJAX cheese factory and the mice use Speedy to outsmart Sylvester, in "Here Today, Gone Tamale" where Speedy collects cheese from a ship while trying to outwit Sylvester and in "Chili Weather" where Sylvester is keeping mice away from Guadalajara Food Processing and Speedy outsmarts him.
- This short also serves as the last true battle between Daffy Duck and Speedy Gonzales.
- Unlike the other two cartoons cut from Daffy Duck's Easter Show, "The Yolks on You" and "Daffy Flies North", this cartoon was not given any special opening credits.
- A previously unreleased restored print of the short aired on MeTV's Saturday Morning Cartoons block in 2021 with a new title card.
