The Gambling Bug is an animated cartoon character who appears in the 1951 Merrie Melodies short "Early to Bet". He was voiced by Stan Freberg.[1]
Background[]
The Gambling Bug is a small character who infects others with the desire to gamble. He wears a green bow tie, a red jacket, a brown hat, and a white tuxedo. In his first and only cartoon appearance, he repeatedly induces The Supreme Cat to play against a card shark bulldog. His home is decorated with a theme of gambling (e.g., a playing card pattern on a chair and a futon like a die).
He makes a brief cameo at the basketball game in Space Jam and at The Maroon Cartoon studio in Who Framed Roger Rabbit.
