  • We have two new rules when it comes to category creation:

    • Because of an overload of categories, any categories other than those which are explicitly allowed (in the Categories Term) cannot be created without Acme Staff approval. Adding or creating such categories without approval will result in a warning; repeated addition or recreation of the category will result in a temporary block.
    • If you have a suggestion for a category that is not explicitly allowed but not prohibited, please post it on the General Discussion board to have others approve of it first.

    Thanks for reading.

    • Has there been any discussion of deleting some of the categories? I agree there is an overload right and think some should be removed.

    • Which categories are you referring to?

We've actually had discussions for deleting some categories and actually went through with deleting a few of them.

      • "Speedy characters" three days ago because Orange Mo said that the definition for "speedy" is very loose; it could apply from anyone from Road Runner to Bugs Bunny when he runs fast.
      • "Cute characters": based on opinion
      • You deleted "Chasees" and "Preys" because they were unnecessary
      • I deleted a few empty "[Character] Supporting Cast" categories

    • I think the categories like Orchestration by, Sound effects by, layouts by, etc., for the cartoon shorts seems like too many categories. I know this is my opinion, but I don't think those categories are used that often and makes the list look cluttered.

I agree that those categories amount to a lot, but I'm on the fence about deleting them. Where do we draw the line? Director categories should probably be kept, as each one has a sizable fanbase and one may want to look for all of, say, Chuck Jones' cartoons.

    • That is the big question for me. I agree Director categories should be kept, maybe producer and writer, but that would be it for the behind the scenes.

    • LevenThumps, I'd like to take the issue concerning credits categories to a separate thread. Agree or disagree?

    • Agree. This thread reminded me of the issue but it should be discussed elsewhere.
