  • I haven't gotten around to adding this to the Manual of Style yet, but the main title card image (the one in the infobox) should preferably not have any logo bugs or borders around it. TheBigGnome has removed many of your title card images for this reason.

    Thanks.

    • Well, in that case, why doesn't somebody just edit them out, since they were the best quality I could find?

There are two problems with this:

      1. It's not easy. You couldn't edit out a watermark with MS Paint without it looking awkward, so extra standards would have to be placed on such edited images.
      2. Apparently it's a violation of our rules:
      • Especially do not alter any images of Looney Tunes cartoons, real people, TV show or theatrical posters, or production crew. Changing colors, adding watermarks, text, or making montages that corrupt the copyright owners' original work is considered to be a serious infringement. If the copyright owners are allowing us (wiki editors) to use their images, we should be respectful to their work and not alter them. We are lucky we even get to use the images in the first place.

    • Yeah I know, but where there's copyright, there's fair use!

You have a point there. I'm still against the manipulation of the images to remove the logo bugs (however, it's more for point 1). I'll have to talk this over with the other admins.

So all those people who make memes of SpongeBob and Simpsons are technically violating copyright?

    • Well, in one promo for I ♥ SpongeBob Week from nearly two months ago, they do acknowledge the ever popular Imagination meme from the episode "Idiot Box", so yeah, it's not like they're uncool with it, and anyways, those memes have been there for years and I personally don't think anyone's complained about copyright violations.
