Tiny Toons Looniversity is a reboot of Tiny Toon Adventures featuring older versions of the characters. The new series is produced by Amblin Television and Warner Bros. Animation for Cartoon Network and Max. Steven Spielberg returns as an executive producer alongside Sam Register, while the show is run by Erin Gibson. The show was given a two-season order.[2] The show was released on Max on 8 September 2023.[3][1][4][5][6] In addition, one episode aired on Cartoon Network per week starting on 9 September.[1]
Most of the characters from the original series and the Looney Tunes characters return.[5][7]. Charlie Adler and Tress MacNeille do not reprise their roles as Buster Bunny[8] and Babs Bunny as they are replaced by Eric Bauza and Ashleigh Crystal Hairston.[9][6][10] David Errigo Jr. voices Plucky Duck and Hamton J. Pig, replacing both the late Joe Alaskey and Don Messick. Tessa Netting voices Sweetie Bird, replacing Candi Milo. Jeff Bergman reprises his roles as Bugs Bunny, Foghorn Leghorn, and Sylvester, respectively, along with perspective cast including Bauza as Daffy Duck.[3] The San Diego Comic-Con 2022 poster for the show reveals that most of the characters would return for the new series, even Elmyra, who was previously said not to appear. Currently, the only known voice actors to return from the original series are Jeff Bergman, Bob Bergen, Candi Milo, Cree Summer, and Jess Harnell.
Unlike the original series, Buster and Babs Bunny are portrayed as twin siblings rather than friends.[11] The series also has the 1960s characters or equivalents to such as Merlin the Magic Mouse and Cool Cat and features new characters like his son Chillest Cat.[12]
On 7 July 2023, it was announced that a panel focused on the show would be held at San Diego Comic-Con 2023, which included a screening of two episodes.[13] The final trailer was released on 18 August 2023.[1]
On 7 September 2023, the episode "General Hogspital" was released online.
The first half of Season 2 premiered on 8 March 2024 on Max.[14] The Spring Break special was released on the same day. Season 2 premiered on 6 April 2024 on Cartoon Network with the Spring Break special.[15] A Halloween special was slated to be released in October 2024 but was postponed for unknown reasons.[16] It will also be a crossover special as the Tiny Toons will encounter DC Comics character Mister Mxyzptlk. A winter special was released on 6 December 2024.[17]

Notes
- Speedy Gonzales and Pepé Le Pew are the only major Looney Tunes characters who do not appear in the series. Both were previously absent in Duck Dodgers and did not appear in their own shorts in Looney Tunes Cartoons. Pepé was initially supposed to be a cafeteria worker but later got reworked to be the ACME Looniversity chef, Chefe Le Pew. He was replaced by Lola Bunny in the final product, as Warner Bros. wanted to avoid using him due to a controversy in March 2021.[19][20][21][22]
- Following King Tweety, it is the first series to feature LGBT representation.
- Renaldo Raccoon (voiced by gay actor Tony Rodriguez) is indicated to be openly gay as he mentioned Fire Island (a popular LGBT destination) in the episode "Extra, So Extra". In the season 2 episode "Twin-Con", he was shown briefly being attracted to Hamton J. Pig with his earring being worn on the right ear. This is usually used by gay men to signal their sexuality.
- In the first episode "Freshman Orientoontion", Tweety is referred to with gender-neutral pronouns.
- Sweetie Bird is the daughter of two moms, Suzie and Sabita.
