Willoughby (sometimes spelled Wiloughby) is a dumb hound character of the Merrie Melodies series. According to Chuck Jones, the character was based on Lennie, from Of Mice and Men.
About Willoughby
Willoughby is a hunting dog, but does not do his job well as he is easily duped by his targets, much like Elmer Fudd and Beaky Buzzard.
In his first appearance, "Of Fox and Hounds", he is big and fat dog with white and brown fur. From "The Crackpot Quail" up until "Hare Force", he is thin with brown fur.
In "A Horse Fly Fleas", he is slightly fatter than his previous appearance, but still retains his brown fur.
In his last appearance, "Foxy by Proxy", he is fat with white and brown fur again, but heavily redesigned with a dopier look.
