Yoni Chen (10 August 1953 - 27 June 1995) was an Israeli actor, voice actor, puppeteer and director. He is best known for performing the character Batz the Turtle in the children's puppet show Parpar Nechmad. He was openly gay and was in a relationship with someone working within educational television.

Biography[]

Of Syrian-Jewish descent, Chen became an actor during the late 1970s. He also became one of Israel's most prominent voice dubbing artists for cartoons and animated films, and he founded a dubbing company. He dubbed, directed, and produced the Hebrew versions of many Looney Tunes productions and voiced characters such as Sylvester, Taz, Elmer Fudd, and many other supporting characters.

Chen died following AIDS-related complications at the age of 41. Most of his roles were passed on to Simcha Barbiro.
